Documentary Review.

Ni Hao folks !

In case you wondering, that's 'Hello' in Chinese. Why greeting in Chinese ? well, they say, you become what you watch. I recently completed watching insightful Netflix documentary American Factory. Americans and Chinese, man, both countries totally differs on Idea, ethics, culture and motivation. So, this documentary starts with General Motors factory in Ohio getting shut down. Around 2400 people lost their jobs. That's total number of jobs Modi created in 6 years !! So fast forward, A Chinese billionaire named Cho Tak Wong.....seriously bro? is that your name? smh. Cho Tak Wong promises to invest and re-open the factory again, promising jobs to nearly 1000 workers. The twist here is Americans have to work under Chinese supervisors. Americans in desperate need of jobs accepted the work under Chinese with pay much lower than they earned at General Motors.

In China, manufacturing sectors are very aggressive, workers work 12 hours a day with 15 minutes free lunch break and 2 - ten minutes paid breaks. Paid breaks are like you can rest, but you need to pay money. They have only 2 official holiday per month. Most employees visit their home once or twice a year. That's how China works !!! So Americans obviously can't compete Chinese at that level. In America, people are given far more importance, workers work 8 hours a day, have multiple breaks and most importantly they have worker's union to support them in case of any complains. Imagine, when these two opposite mentality people working together !! Chinese don't speak english, Americans don't speak Chinese and the tension it creates.

Definitely a watch, if you love the idea of capitalism, unions and profits.
